COLD CALLING
The thought of dialing
a total stranger to sell services or products can leave even the most
successful sales professional chilled to the bone, adrift in a sea of swirling
negative emotions and thoughts. Up
front and present are our fears, resentments, anxieties and a host of confusing
energy. Yet for most in sales, there
comes a time when warm leads either end or aren’t enough.
To
keep a steady flow of new business and clients pouring into our pipeline we
must be ready, willing and able to speak compellingly about our services and
products to ANY lead, whether that prospect is standing in front of us or
listening on the other side of the phone.
Cold calling isn’t just about
phone sales, for it encompasses any situation in which you are speaking with a
potential prospect who is entirely unfamiliar with you, your company and your
products. For some, the phone offers a
modicum of protection, whereas for others capturing the gaze of someone makes the
contact less daunting.
Sales professionals in every
conceivable industry have to “set aside” their feelings and thoughts in order
to get busy making the sale. It’s a
numbers game, they tell themselves. The
nature of cold calling simply requires calling on a large pool of unqualified,
potentially disinterested contacts in order to reach that one lucky moment when
everything in the universe lines up and the gods smile down on us. Of course the problem we now know, is that
we can never really “put aside” our feelings and thoughts. We don’t get to pick and choose which of our
energy our contacts receive, they get it all. If our vibration conveys other than harmony, we actually pass on doubt
and loose the sale!

and we may even have practiced our delivery until we can give the presentation
in our sleep. But the contact will
always get more than we bargain for, because they don’t just hear us...they can
actually feel us.

Cold calling is one of
the most interesting facets of sales from the energetic standpoint as it often
combines a variety of challenging global issues in one big nasty stew of stuck
energy. Often included in what stops
the otherwise successful sales professional from successfully making cold calls
is everything from a fear of public speaking to dreading
rejection, from the resentment of having to “push” to the distain for being
right back at square one each and every time. The issues include both right and left brain
functions and can seem so overwhelmingly insurmountable that the average
salesperson will do anything to avoid having to pick up that phone or walk into
that networking meeting until it’s absolutely necessary.
The wonderful news is that if the product
is good, and training is in place, most people can become amazing salespeople
if they have the desire and can release the stuck energy of their negative
feelings and thoughts. And of course,
energy tools make these shifts so easy it sometimes astounds. Once our
energy is cleared and we’ve installed positive programming by conscious choice,
we emit such a sense of peace and confidence others are simply irresistibly
drawn to us, our products and services!
In the sales process,
having balanced and clear energy provides the client a sense of security, that
key factor in every step of the process – from getting a first appointment to
closing the deal. In
fact, the clearer we are the more magnetic we become. And from this attractive state is when we
can really create amazing results by introducing the Law of Attraction and
other Universal Laws to buoy us up as we ride the waves of enthusiasm we
generate with our prospects and new clients!
