The
Symposia Project has created an innovative, ambitious framework for community development in
Hoboken. There is a vibrant used bookstore at
its center, but the project encompasses much more.
Experimental
in nature, it began in the fall of 2001 with the mission of fostering personal
and community growth. It continues to evolve, attracting a wide range
of people who are drawn to it for different reasons. For some, Symposia is a
gathering place for conversation on Wednesday and Thursday evening. For others
it's strictly social, so the film, the parties and game nights appeal most.
Still others come for the cultural events, spiritual enlightenment, community
activism or to participate in group outings.
